There was a story told of a man that was such a good Christian he would be allowed to take one thing with him to Heaven when he died. The man invested all his wealth into gold, and the day he died he took the bag of gold with him to Heaven. But when he arrived he was met at the gate by one of the angels who asked what he had in the bag. The man proudly showed the angel. The angel then responded with a puzzled look, pavement?
Of course we know no one will be taking anything from this world with them to Heaven. Because nothing of this world is of any value besides souls. God sent Jesus to die for souls, not gold and silver. And if so why are so many in the church more concerned with their worldly possessions than they are souls?
I have even seen parents teach their children to pursue the riches of this world more than Christ. Not realizing how they are damning the very soul of their children by teaching them such.
Truly the only thing of real value is the souls of others. That being the case it must be so few have come to realize the value of souls because they haven't realized how precious their soul is to God. This only happens when a person has been saved.
